More Sewing was opened by Laura Rigby in February 2012. Laura’s aim is to teach people how to enjoy and advance their sewing from absolute beginners, through to improvers and onto experienced sewers.

Laura and The Shop

Laura has been sewing for as long as she can remember, her mother had sewed all her life and had worked in Harrods as a seamstress. She taught Laura to sew when she was 6 and Laura has been addicted to sewing ever since! Laura went on to study at the London College of Fashion, learning with Savile Row Tailors the art of garment making and tailoring.

After many years working in the fashion industry both as a designer and as a garment technologist, Laura opened More Sewing as she wanted to share her love of sewing and tailoring. The range of workshops, fabrics and haberdashery has continued to grow and Laura now teaches nearly every day in her lovely shop filled with beautiful fabric. She is also lucky to work with a team of expert teachers who run a large range of different workshops.

The shop is now so popular that Laura’s husband, Mr More Sewing has now joined full-time and looks after the online shop and ebay site. He also services and repairs sewing machines. More Sewing is also the agent for Pfaff Sewing Machines and Overlockers in West Sussex as well as stocking Silver Sewing Machines

The shop is busier now than ever and Laura loves being part of the growing sewing community. She loves meeting fellow sewers so come and visit the shop or get in touch via social media – she always enjoys seeing what others have created – after all isn’t that what it’s all about?
